: Looking for ancestors of Flora Grace Dean or Rebert Carscadden of Enniskillen, Fermanaugh, Ireland.
Halfmoon Bay, BC
I was delighted to see your query regarding Flora Dean and Robert Carscadden, as they were my gr.gr.gr. grandparents.
Today,in preparation for a family history quest to N. Ireland next April I was googling some of my N. Irish ancestor's names, just to see what came up, and found your website.
According to the family history passed down to me, Flora and Robert's daughter Grace Carscadden married Thomas Boles in Ontario around 1839. (his family had also come from Fermanagh I believe). They had a daughter Mary Jane Boles who married my
great grandfather John Dunkin of London, On.
Mary Jane and John had my grandfather James A. Dunkin. His first son John was my father, John James, born 1905 in Manitoba. He moved to Vancouver in the mid-1930's, and I was born there in 1944. My husband and I now live 40 miles up the coast.
The other family that my cousin Jo Dunkin and I will be looking into will be the Dunkins of Fivemiletown, Co. Tyrone, not far from Enniskillen. . I have quite a bit of info on them, and many years ago briefly visited Fivemiletown, and tried to find where they had farmed nearby, as tenant farmers.
I have no information on the Carscaddens or Deans beyond what I've mentioned here, and would appreciate anything more you have on them.
Have you been to Fermanagh yourself? We'll have only 5 or 6 days in Ireland in April, so want to make the best of our time, and be prepared with as much knowledge as possible, so anything you can share with me, I'll be grateful for.
