Source of Early family surname

I have been researching my family name online and so far have traced it back as far as Adam and Eve. I was quite interested to learn from one website that my ancestors named Early, came from Ireland, making them descendants of Maolmocheirgh whose ancestry was recorded back to Adam & Eve. That fact alone, being of record, seems pretty astounding to me. Other sources take it back to 12th century Norman lord named Jean D'Erly or John D'Earleagh. Some say it is from early Irish priests from an island convent. Another source says it is from Irish kings. Does anyone have accurate information about the origin of my surname?
