James Fitzgerald b.circa 1817 in parish of Kilgarvan, Co Kerry, Ire. was a tailor and the son of William Fitzgerald and Elizabeth? James Fitzgerald married Elizabeth (Betsey) Graney (Grany, Greaney, Greany) in County Kerry, Ire. Elizabeth, born Co. Kerry, dau. of Thomas Greany and unk.
James and Elizabeth (Betsey)left Ire. with children, Thomas b.1844 Ire., Mary b. Ire., John and Patrick, both b. Ire. They had a dau., Joanna b. Ire. and died probably in Ire. at a young age.

James Fitzgerald had eight brothers,six brothers came to the USA, one brother and second son of William Fitzgerald, also named William , married Hannah O'Brien, dau. of Nicholas O'Brien of Co.Kerry, Ire.
The William Fitzgerald family and ancestry had dwelt for many generations in Kilgarvan Parish, County Kerry.
