: Hello there,
: No relation. Just trying to help.
: I found this D. Cullen arriving in the USA in 1880 =
: Name: D Cullen
: Arrival Date: 19 Apr 1880
: Birth Date: abt 1860
: Age: 20
: Gender: Male
: Ethnicity/ Nationality: Irish
: Place of Origin: Ireland
: Port of Departure: Liverpool, England
: Destination: United States of America
: Port of Arrival: New York, New York
: Ship Name: Egypt
: I found ref for his marriage in 1883 in Claremorris, but you most likely have a copy of his marriage cert.
: : My grandfather, Dominick Cullen (name could be spelt Cullinane) was born 1859 and when old enough emigrated to the US. Letters found in recent years suggests he was in Boston and either stayed with, or had a close association with a family called Winston, from the same townland in Ireland. Not sure how long Dominick was in America but I would think only a few years at most as he returned on/or after 1881 to claim his inheritance to my great-grandfather's house and land in Carrick, Ballinlough, County Roscommon, Ireland. He is said to have met, either on the ship to the US, or while in Boston, or indeed on the ship home to Ireland, a lady called Catherine (Kate or Katherine)Prendergast from Drumineen, County Mayo, Ireland whom he married a few years later. I have tried searching the US Census records for 1880 to no avail and numerous ship's lists again without any result. Looking for anyone who has access to such a database or links with genealogy society in Boston that may help.
