I am an Irish woman now living in Australia. I am a retired political and current affairs writer and I was so proud of my countrymen and women when Ireland rejected that treaty.

It is fatally flawed and would eventually lead to us being obliged to do or condone things that would diminish us as a nation.
I hope and pray we are not going to be bullied, cajoled, bribed or otherwise into reviving it.
Irish men and women suffered and died for centuries so that we could have the freedom and right to decide our course.
We have to defend that right or dishonour all those who fought and died to give it to us.
