taking a holiday in ireland

planning to come to ireland in summer of 2010.do you think anything will be open as the irish economy sounds pretty bad? i mean every place is bad.but i would hate to spend my good american money over there and not see what i want.or be able to see,eat,drink the stuff over there?
any suggestions on what NOT to do...as in tourist trap...
