My great grandfather's name was Michael Gooley (he married Kate Fitzgerald) they had a son by the name of Martin. They also had four more children who lived to be adults. Their daughter, Alice Gooley was my grandmother. Both Michael & Kate Gooley were suppose to be from Waterford, Ireland. They both would have born between 1850 & 1852 in Ireland. They show up in the 1870 census living in Chicago, IL I have been told that the first Irish born son would often be named after their grandfather-Martin perhaps.
