I read with interest this story of protesting seniors taking the bus from all over Ireland to arrive at the protest. Someone made a comment that it was ironic that the bus ride was free as provided by the Government to get the protestors there. In the US the government is by the people and for the people. Isn't the government in Ireland for the people too? Did not these seniors earn their free bus ride by paying taxes all their working lives and did they not earn the right to retire and have their medical cards? If the funds are dear now why not offer some discount or co-pay for all rather than not give the cards at all? Many people, especially seniors need medical care. And no one should have to go begging for it. The Irish are a proud people and some might say stubborn proud so I would not like to see someone who really needed medical help not seek it or receive it! I wish AMerica would provide this kind of medical care. May people don't have it. You know who gets the best medical care though? IN San Francisco, it's the homeless and I mean the ones on drugs and alcohol who pass out and get revived (some from death) and brought to the hospital and given excellent care but don't pay a dime. Weird world we live in! Cheers!
